The future of Visit Riihimäki has been secured after the Together Forward – Riihimäki region tourism project. Visit Riihimäki, or the tourism organization of Lopen, Riihimäki and Hausjärvi, was established during the project. The project was implemented from 6/2021 to 12/2023. Visit Riihimäki's task is to both market and communicate the Riihimäki region as a tourist destination and to develop regional tourism in the Lopen, Riihimäki and Hausjärvi areas. Visit Riihimäki will be participating in the Travel Fair from 18 to 22.1.2024 January XNUMX at the Helsinki Exhibition and Convention Centre.

From a project to a permanent organization

Loppi, Riihimäki and Hausjärvi received funding from the Regional Council for Sustainable Growth and Vitality (AKKE) for the project “Together Forward – Riihimäki Region Tourism Project” in summer 2021. Visit Riihimäki’s website was launched in January 2022. The organization’s purpose is to highlight the attractive tourist destinations of the Riihimäki region. Visit Riihimäki is part of Riihimäki Land and Development Oy (RTOY).

The Visit Riihimäki working group includes experts in municipal communications. Visit Riihimäki received permanent funding in the autumn of 2023. Permanent funding is important so that tourism can be carried out in the long term and campaigns can be planned well in advance. The financiers are the City of Riihimäki, the Municipality of Loppe and the Municipality of Hausjärvi. The first measure of the new funding is participation in the Travel Fair. With the funding, Visit Riihimäki maintains websites, carries out advertising and marketing campaigns, communicates about the tourism opportunities in the area and develops tourism together with tourism operators. In addition, Visit Riihimäki is a co-implementer in the project, Elämykset esiin, applied for by Linnan Kehityske regarding the entire Kanta-Häme, which is funded by the Rural Development Fund.

The city of Riihimäki and the municipalities of Loppi and Hausjärvi are located so close to each other that tourists can easily use the services available in different locations. “The city of Riihimäki, the municipalities of Loppi and Hausjärvi have their own areas of strength in tourism. We do not compete with each other, but rather offer tourists a diverse and multi-purpose regional tourist destination,” says Mia Miettinen, Communications and Marketing Manager of the City of Riihimäki.

100 reasons to visit the Riihimäki region presented for the first time at the Travel Fair

Visit Riihimäki will participate in the Travel Fair at the Helsinki Exhibition and Convention Centre from 18 to 22.1.2024 January 100. Thursday of the Travel Fair is aimed at tourism professionals and from Friday to Sunday at consumers. Visit Riihimäki is participating in this event for the second time with a joint stand of three municipalities. This year, the theme of Visit Riihimäki at the Travel Fair is XNUMX reasons to visit the Riihimäki region. The theme has been implemented with short films. The theme highlights the versatility of the Riihimäki region as a tourist destination.

“We received a lot of praise last year for our stand at the Travel Fair. Our cooperation went really well and the atmosphere at the stand was great,” says Visit Riihimäki’s Marketing and Communications Manager Pauliina Lindgren. “The contact price at the fair is significantly more expensive than in digital channels. However, contact is really valuable when we meet a traveler face to face,” Lindgren continues.
