Komio Nature Reserve was chosen third in the Hiking Spot of the Year competition organized by Retkipaikan.

The Hiking Spot of the Year competition organized by Retkipaikan once again allowed hikers to vote for their favorite among the wonderful candidates. This year there were six candidates, and a total of 2446 votes were cast. The winner was Tiilikkajärvi National Park, which is a true wilderness dream suitable even for beginners. Koli came in second and Komio from Kanta-Häme came in third.

Thirdly, the beautiful Komio

The Komio Nature Reserve came in third place in the vote. Arriving in the Komio area in Kanta-Häme, you might think you had arrived somewhere in the backwoods of Kainuu; the landscape is very unique for southern Finland. The shores of the wide, undeveloped lake are covered with low, wilderness-like trees, the bogs glow in their full spectrum of colors, and the rugged terrain ensures that many hikers get a good workout in addition to their nature experiences. There are hiking trails for every taste: from the lovely, barrier-free scenic trail leading to the beach campfire site to 3,5-kilometer and 6,5-kilometer loops, and also a 30-kilometer long Poronpolku, which in turn is part of the considerably extensive Ilvesreitti hiking trail, passes through Komio. Komio is part of the rugged Häme Lakeland, which includes many separate hiking destinations.
