International tourists are attracted to Lake Finland through cooperation
Lakeland Finland, the Finnish Lakeland, is being exported and branded to the world through a new collaboration that does not recognize traditional provincial or municipal borders. The five provinces of Lakeland Finland have jointly launched the visitlakelandfinland.fi website, which aims to attract more international tourists to the region. The website presents the offerings of the Lahti Region, Visit Häme, Visit Tampere, Visit Jyväskylä Region and VisitKarelia.
Finland is an interesting, but still small, destination in international tourism
Finland, and especially the Lake Finland region, is attracting increasing interest worldwide, but information about the region's tourism offerings has been scattered across the tourism websites of several provincial operators. The joint website that has now been built presents the offerings of tourism entrepreneurs in a consolidated manner and offers an easy shopping route for tourists.
"It's great that Kanta-Häme is involved in this collaboration to promote the visibility of the entire Lake Finland and its regions to international markets. We are a small region, and when we aim for international visibility, we can combine our strengths and have a broader impact together with Tampere, Lahti, Jyväskylä and Joensuu. I am particularly pleased that while working on this project, we have constantly thought about how we can better get companies' products and services online and available for purchase. This is also a great opportunity for tourism operators in our region!", says Outi Mertamo, tourism expert at Linnan Kehitys.
Lake Finland is one of Finland's four major tourist regions.
Visit Finland has divided Finland into four major tourist regions: Helsinki region, Lapland, Lakeland Finland, and the coastal and archipelago region. The newly launched visitlakeland-finland.fi website is a continuation of the cooperation between the Lakeland Finland regions that has already begun.
The Lakeland Finland inter-regional network cooperation is a project funded by the Sustainable Growth and Vitality of Regions (AKKE). During the project, from 1.10.2021 October 30.9.2023 to XNUMX September XNUMX, several hundred tourism products from five regions have been entered into the common DataHub database for Finnish tourism products. The project has increased the digital expertise and capabilities of organizations and strengthened cross-regional cooperation.
