Josefina Nelimarkka's multi-sensory Aria exhibition at the Finnish Glass Museum invites you to experience glass in a new way

The multi-sensory Aria exhibition, opening at the Finnish Glass Museum in spring 2027, presents works by Josefina Nelimarkka, where art and science meet.

The multi-sensory exhibition by Josefina Nelimarkka (b. 1982) at the Finnish Glass Museum presents the artist's glass works, a video installation and paintings.

The exhibition is born from a dialogue between art and science and renews the way we handle and present glass. The works bring together deep time – the Earth’s billion-year history – and future climates, which take on their own material and breathing form through glass.

Aria opens as a space of air, movement and melody. The exhibition takes its name from the linguistic history of the word for air. The ancient Greek aēr originally meant mist and fog, and passed through Latin to become the Italian word aria.

The works in the exhibition reflect Nelimarkka's interest in older glass working methods and new technologies related to glass production.
The exhibition features a collection of the artist's previous works and new works being prepared for the exhibition.

The exhibition opens at the Finnish Glass Museum on February 6, 2027 and ends on April 11, 2027.
