Riihimäen Tilat ja Kehitys Oy is organizing Granit's summer concerts for the fifth time. The purpose of the summer concerts is to enliven the center of Riihimäki and create a nice and free summer program for residents. This year, Granit's summer concerts will expand to Granit's children's concerts, which are held in cooperation with the City of Riihimäki.

“We are excited to organize Granit's summer concerts for children as well,” says Reima Ojanen, Business Development Manager at Riihimäen Tilat ja Kehitys Oy. “The purpose of Granit's summer concerts is to bring top Finnish artists to entertain the crowd on Wednesday evenings. This way, we can also bring life and joy to the center of Riihimäki in the middle of the week,” continues Ojanen.

The cafes and restaurants on Granit Square are open during the summer concerts. The first Granit summer concerts were held in 2018 at Ragnar Granit Square in the center of Riihimäki.

Riihimäki is a child-friendly city

The city of Riihimäki received the Child Friendly Municipality recognition from UNICEF in spring 2023. The city of Riihimäki wants to offer children and families with children an even wider range of programs. Investing in children's cultural offerings is part of a child-friendly city.

“Granit’s summer gigs have been a part of the Riihimäki summer for years,” says Lyti Aaltonen, the cultural producer responsible for the City of Riihimäki’s cultural and event services. “I hope the children’s events will be just as enthusiastically received,” Aaltonen continues.

Granit's summer concert program

Granit's summer gigs start on Wednesday, May 29th with a children's gig at 17.30:19.00 PM. The performer is Maisteri Molto, who is known, among other things, from Yle's children's program Musiikkia, Maisteri Molto, where the original music teacher Maisteri Molto teaches new children's songs. In his teaching, he uses different elements of music, i.e. rhythm, harmony, melody, timbre, form and dynamics. Tauski will perform on the same day at XNUMX:XNUMX PM. Tauski's most famous solo songs include "Ilman sua" and "Sinä vain".

In June, the gigs continue on June 12, when Jiri Nikkinen Trio will perform. Grant's summer gigs start at 19.00:60 PM. The trio will perform XNUMXs music, including The Beatles and The Who. In July, Jani Forsman & Hot Potatoes will take over the Granit stage. The other band in July is Praerian osteri, who plays Finnish-language country rock with a Tex-Mex twist.

The summer gigs continue in August with Granit's children's gigs. Pikku Papun Orkesteri will take over the square on August 7. Pikku Papun Orkesteri is an ensemble that composes and performs children's music. The orchestra began at the Sibelius Academy's children's music course in 2012. The summer gigs continue on the same day, when Hanna Pakarinen takes over the stage. Pakarinen rose to fame by winning Finland's first Idols competition in 2004. She represented Finland in the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Leave Me Alone".

The last summer gig of 2024 will be held on August 21st and will feature Bee. Bee combines dark pop and soul in her music and ties it all together with her wonderful and recognizable vocal sound.

DJ All Jam always starts the atmosphere before Granit's summer gigs at 6:00.
