A summer full of events

In the summer, the Riihimäki region is filled with events. Traditional summer entertainment includes the International Wilderness Fair, Granit's summer gigs, Loppe's evening markets, events at the Mommila village shop and wonderful museums. This page has collected some of these entertainments. Welcome to the region to have fun!

Loppe has culture and entertainment

There is something happening almost every day in the summer. The summer markets are a traditional and nice event on Thursdays. The music on offer is of high quality: the Syrjä soi concert, the Kun ilta tummentuu concert (performers Angelika Klas, Seppo Hovi and Hannu Lehtonen) and the Rautalankavääntö.

Enjoy a rustic atmosphere in Hausjärvi

Mommila Village Shop hosts events throughout the summer, including the Old Vehicles Evening and Village Shop Countryside. The Hausjärvi rustic market will be one of the highlights of the summer, as will the stage dances on the Kolmilammi stage.

There is a lot to see and do in Riihimäki

Riihimäki's summer is full of culture and events that offer experiences for everyone. There are great gigs, great museum exhibitions and a diverse program for tourists to enjoy. Granit Square comes alive on Wednesday evenings with Granit's summer gigs, which entertain city residents and tourists. The outdoor swimming pool is a paradise for water animals. For the adventurous and those who love speed, unforgettable moments are offered at the Vesikauhu Tour swimming jump event held at the outdoor swimming pool in June.

High-quality museum offerings

In Riihimäki you can visit five interesting museums: the Finnish Glass Museum, the Finnish Hunting Museum, the National Workers' House Museum, and the Riihimäki City Museum and Riihimäki Art Museum located in the Museum Center Riemu. Go on a fascinating museum tour and visit each one! In Loppe there is the Local History Museum Lukkarin Puustelli and in Hausjärvi there is the Local History Museum and Local History House Koskela.

Entertainment and excitement from summer theaters

The Riihimäki region pampers viewers with its summer theaters – there are no fewer than four summer theaters in the region. See the performances and their showtimes below.

  • The farcical comedy "Not Bad" uses comedy to deal with friendship and its limits.

Pete and Maria arrive at their friends Kaarlo and Karo's cottage for the weekend. The atmosphere of the visit takes a surprising turn when Pete accidentally makes a pocket call that reveals to the hosts what the guests really think of them and their lives.

A lively summer evening tests the limits of friendship, takes off the masks, and in the end the evening becomes a complete farce! The pear leaves offered as food and the increase in the value of a modest gift to thousands of euros are surprising. Did a wasp sting Marian's lip or why is it swollen, and how to tell a friend what you think? So not in a bad way!

  • Hay Hat and Felt Slippers are having an adventure in Riihimäki this summer!

Hayhat and Feltboots' mother Hanna goes on a nervous vacation with her husband Matti, and they ask Aunt Pamela to babysit.

Meanwhile, elsewhere, Sorkkarauta-Salonen and Viila-Voutilainen escape from prison, followed by police officers Isonapa and Rillirousku. On their escape, Sorkkarauta-Salonen gets lost in Aunt Pamela's hair salon, hiding from the police, and answers Aunt Pamela's phone in a hurry. Suddenly, there are more Aunt Pamelas, and Hayhat and Woolen Toe are not only fooled, but they also begin to suspect that the strange nanny is something more than she seems! This is how the Kattilankoski family's wild adventure begins, full of speed and danger.

Welcome to a musical adventure for the whole family at Riihimäki Summer Theatre!

  • Kekkonen – from birth to immortality

A royal comedy that is full of drama.

Kekkonen – From Birth to Immortality is the story of a boy who is born in a croft in Lepikko, learns to read at the age of three, and defends his doctorate at the age of seven. Urho loves competing and winning – and hates communists. As a politician, he shares opinions even to those who don't want to hear them, struggles for half a century to come to power, ardently searches for love, and finally achieves immortality. Or does he?

A story of great men (and women), the pursuit of ultimate power and its consequences. The comedy of Miina Montu's anniversary is more relevant than ever right now!

  • Jubilee year 2024 summer theater play: Tubetusta, adrift in the wind

The generation gap is growing day by day.

The young man is peeing and peeing like a cow dung in barbed wire, while in the back room his mother-in-law is shouting her endless demands. He imagines that he is a direct descendant of Elisabeth II.

A wife throws a birthday party despite the ban, what could go wrong? When an unwanted guest arrives at the party, anything is possible.

A comedy about a nuclear family, we are there, but less often present.
