Mommila's Village Shop's Café

Mommila's Village Shop

Mommilan Kyläpuoti (Mommila's Village Shop) is a summer café located in the former village store of Hietoinen village – a true oasis in the middle of the rural Häme landscape in Hausjärvi. The store building, built in 1898, is located on the hill of the historic Mommila manor, on the shores of the beautiful Mommilanjärvi lake.

The village shop sells fresh pastries and other things, with a focus on locally made products.

In the store's antique shop you will find everything from childhood toys, tin cans, magazines, tools and dishes. All the goods for sale are genuinely old!

The unique village shop museum has props and product packaging from the past hundred years. In the museum, you can travel back in time from the general stores of the early 1900th century all the way to the beginning of the barcode era. Those hungry for nostalgia will also be enjoy the Martti shop car, telephone kiosk and sausage kiosk museums. There is also plenty to see and experience in the courtyard for the whole family.

Hietoinen village comes alive from May Day to early autumn when the village shop opens its doors. Many summer events, such as Vanhojen autojen ilta (Evening of the Old Vehicles), Maitolaiturin Laulut Singing Event, Vintaakimarkkinat and the national Village Shop Day, have become traditions in the village.
