The Riihimäki region is a great local tourist destination that is easy to get to. Loppi, Riihimäki and Hausjärvi offer autumn holiday experiences suitable for the whole family. In a small but diverse area, you can visit both magnificent natural attractions and cultural attractions in the same day.

To enjoy nature

There are several interesting natural sites in the Riihimäki region, the first of which you can head to is the Loppi nature trails. Crystal clear Iso-Melkutin is one of the gems of the Häme lake plateau. The area's trails of varying lengths invite you to hike in the ridge landscape shaped by the ice age. Kakslammi also has exercise and disc golf routes that are actively used. Ykslammi DiscGolf Park attracts throwers from near and far.

There are nice forest trails nearby that you can cycle on. One cycling destination could be the public beach of Valkjärvi, where in addition to a swimming area, there is a barbecue shelter and beautiful scenery. Art and theater experiences

In the Riihimäki Art Museum The ELEMENTS exhibition opens. It is a solo exhibition by Helsinki-based designer and artist Sauli Suomela (1969) from Riihimäki, which is built on a dialogue between abstract paintings, glass art and multimedia installations. The theme of the exhibition and the starting point of the works are four classical elements: earth, water, air and fire. Inspired by these basic elements, the works build an exhibition based on strong colors, materials and different methods of implementation.

Polish artist Marta Klonowska (b. 1964) brings Finnish Glass Museum something startling for the end of the year. The sculptures, made of glass fragments and pieces of glass, are inspired by works of old art, such as paintings by Albrecht Dürer and Francisco de Goya, and drawings by Albertus Seba. In addition to the sculptures, the exhibition features Klonowska's sketches and stages of work illustrating the execution technique.

How about a trip to the theater to celebrate autumn? Riihimäki Youth Theatre The big effort of the autumn is Väinö Linna's The Unknown Soldier. The play has been re-adapted by Q-teatteri's artistic director Juho Mantere. The fresh adaptation has not forgotten Linna's original text, but gives voice to a young soldier who is thrown into the midst of the inhumanity of war.

At the Riihimäki Theatre The musical parody Friends will premiere during the fall break. In this show, you can enjoy laughter and singing with six of your friends at your favorite café. The play illuminates the beloved 90s sitcom with joy and a little irony!
