3. Are you ready to dance? Experience the magic of three stages

The municipalities of Riihimäki, Loppi and Hausjärvi have a strong stage dance tradition. There are three long-standing traditional dance stages in the region.

Riihimäki's legendary dance stage Riutanharju will open its doors in its new glory on Saturday, May 23. Dances will be held every Wednesday and Saturday throughout the summer.

The stage has been used for dancing since 1959. In 2025 and 2026, the historic stage and dance floor were thoroughly renovated. With the renovation, the stage also received a new name: Riutta Dance Stage.

Kolmilammi, also located in Ryttylä, Hausjärvi, is one of the most idyllic dance venues in Finland. As its name suggests, the stage is surrounded by three ponds. Kolmilammi's café is known for its diverse cake offering.

The Lopen Vojakkala stage, meanwhile, is a warm-hearted, volunteer-run classic summer dance stage. It has been dancing there for almost 70 years, and the villagers' dancing tradition still continues.

4. Trips into wilderness, unobstructed trails and interesting sightings

The Riihimäki region has plenty of unique, easily accessible natural attractions.

One of the region's true treasures is the Komio nature reserve in Loppe. It is part of the nationally significant and diverse Maakylä-Räyskälä Natura area. Traces of the Ice Age can be seen in the ridge and valley landscapes.

Komio is part of the rugged wilderness of the Häme Lakeland. One option is to go mountain biking on the Poronpolku Trail or participate in the events organized there.

For example, the Sports Park offers a nice outdoor trail in the middle of the city, and the Azalea Park along the Vahteristo outdoor trail will enchant everyone. There is also an accessible long-distance tree path.

In the azalea park, you can admire about two hundred azaleas, which bloom in early June, usually until around Midsummer.

The Ykslammi area also has fitness stairs, a jogging track, a beach, a lean-to and a variety of fitness equipment.

5. Are you interested in a cottage by the lake, close to the capital?

If you want to spend a longer time in the Riihimäki region, it is worth renting a cottage, villa, caravan, car or tent space. They are all available!

Loppi and Hausjärvi are well-known cottage regions, and rental accommodation can be found for a variety of needs from one end to the other. A quiet cottage by the lake is suitable for a small group, while a group of a hundred people will feel most comfortable in a spacious villa.

For example, Hausjärvi Niklandia is only an hour's drive from the capital region. A cottage holiday there can also include a hot tub or barrel sauna.

The Lasismi Cooperative and the Mafka & Alakoski glass studio and gallery offer experiences in glassblowing. Both operate near the Glass Museum, in the premises of an old glass factory.
