Hilarious summer theater and a celebration of glass art – the Riihimäki region invites you to have fun

The Riihimäki region offers the magic of theatre and attractive nature experiences with good connections. A major exhibition presenting Timo Sarpaneva's works at the Finnish Glass Museum is one of the attractions of 2026.

Timo Sarpaneva's anniversary exhibition at the Glass Museum

Artist, professor Timo Sarpaneva (1926–2006) will be one hundred years old. At the Finnish Glass Museum To celebrate the anniversary, a major exhibition KUPLA – Imprisoned in Glass will open in Riihimäki.

The exhibition showcases Sarpaneva's impressive glass art and design, from the iconic glass art of the Iittala glass factory to masterpieces created on the island of Murano. The second new exhibition at the Glass Museum presents the heyday of Murano glass, during which traditional techniques were combined with influences from modern art. The exhibition Murano – Traditions and Innovations is open from 18 April to 20 September 2026.

Diverse routes for hiking

The Riihimäki region offers excellent opportunities for nature hiking.
